Did you hear the one about Shinedown and Apocalyptica?

Bad news if you’re a Shinedown fan: You have shitty taste in music!

Also, Shinedown‘s main man Brent Smith did some vocals for Apocalyptica‘s single “Not Strong Enough.” But they had to be removed because of ‘record company politics.’ My first thought was “Damn, that record company’s politics apparently are ‘do not ruin your record'” until I read who replaced him: Doug Robb of Hoobastank.

Suddenly Brent Smith sounds a lot better.

You’ll have to excuse my lack of interest/research on this matter, but I really don’t care. Just thought of the “shitty taste in music” joke when I read this news and had to post it. If you didn’t find it funny, fuck you, you probably listen to Shinedown! OH SNAPPP!!!!1111

Anyways, Blabbermouth has much more info on the matter and the two versions of the song which I’m just way too lazy to embed here.

BYE.

Apocalyptica set the record straight

A couple of days ago, a German website called Anwalt24.de leaked information about the trademark infringement case involving Apocalyptica and Rammstein. The website claimed that Rammstein sued Apocalyptica and the latter were ordered to pay 45,000€ (about $59,000) to Rammstein.

Apocalyptica now issued a statement regarding the leak and the case;

“The article’s headline is substantially wrong: neither the band Apocalyptica nor their management are or were involved in the described lawsuit. However, the parties involved are the band Rammstein and Sony Music Entertainment GmbH, as the successor of the by now-defunct affiliated label GUN Records.

It is correct that GUN Records published advertisements with the stated endorsement disregarding existing agreements, and the band Rammstein subsequently filed a lawsuit against Sony Music Entertainment GmbH as the parent company. It is furthermore correct that Sony Music Entertainment GmbH and Rammstein have agreed on a settlement, the details of which, however, are unknown to Apocalyptica and Halbe Miete Management. We ask that further articles on the topic correctly reproduce the facts.”

Well, alright. I didn’t care 3 days ago and I don’t care today either.

The day Germany sued Finland

In 2007, Apocalyptica released their album ‘Worlds Collide,’ that featured many guest vocalists, including Till Lindemann of Rammstein, who sang on their cover of David Bowie’s ‘Heroes,’ called ‘Helden’ in German. That much I knew already because I’m a fan of this particular song and especially Lindemann’s vocals on said track.

Apparrently, Apocalyptica promoted ‘Worlds Collide’ in Germany with a sticker on it, saying ‘featuring Rammstein,’ instead of… you know… ‘featuring Till Lindemann of Rammstein‘ and that caused Rammstein to sue Apocalyptica for trademark infringement and Apocalyptica were ordered to pay 45,000€ (about $59,000) to Rammstein.

I don’t want to add anything to this because Rammstein are known to even sue their fansites for ridiculous reasons. Check out a fan made video of Apocalyptica featuring Rammstein Till Lindemann after the jump. It’s a good song nonetheless.
