Nergal makes first public appearance
Some brilliant news in Metal today. Metal Hammer reports that Nergal of Behemoth has made his first public appearance since his leukaemia scare. As we previously reported, the Behemoth frontman underwent a bone marrow transplant, and it seems Nergal is doing well since then.
He was seen this past Monday, February 28 at the Musicollective music school in Poland, and pictures can be found over at Facebook.
We at Dose of Metal all wish Nergal the best of luck.
Dose of Death
Why the cheesy image? Because I don’t take myself seriously, and neither should you. Welcome to my weekly feature where I’m normally drunk and/or hungover, and write some garbage about music in a way that makes me sound more knowledgeable than I really am. Or maybe I just fail at that..
The topic for this week: Death Metal. Admittedly, not my favorite genre, but one that fascinates me all the same. Death Metal is an extreme sub-genre of Metal (no, really?) that began in America (particularly Florida) in the 1980s. But I’m not fucking Wikipedia and this isn’t no history lesson, I’m just here for the music, and so should you be, so get your Death dosage after the jump. Don’t worry, an overdose won’t lead to death. Only awesomeness.
Behemoth frontman is okay
I don’t mean okay as in “a nice guy” (though I guess he is), I mean okay as in “he just left the hospital and he feels fine.” Adam “Nergal” Darski, who suffers from leukemia, underwent a bone marrow transplant, and four weeks later, he’s good enough to leave the hospital. There are still months of therapy ahead of him, but for now, he’s doing fine. You can read the statement he made on his condition here. Hopefully the worst part is over, and maybe we’ll get more Behemoth in the future (not that that’s what’s really important, I’m not a dick, his well being’s the most important right now).
Btw, the photo above was taken before he got sick. (And I was saying?)
Poland has taste
Around the world, you hear stories of artists like Take That, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, and Kanye West (ugh it’s enough to make me vomit) winning awards, but it seems things are a little different in Poland.
It’s been announced that Blackened Death Metallers, Behemoth have been named “artist of the year” by the readers of one of the biggest Polish portals, Onet.pl. Ok, so awards are generally utter rubbish, but it’s good to see extreme Metal getting some recognition.

Nergal is doing a lot better
Great news! Looks like Behemoth front man/guitarist Adam “Nergal” Darski has found a bone marrow donor that is a genetic match. He still has a long way to go, but good news so far. We at Dose Of Metal wish him all the best!
