Friday Top 10: Love songs
People often prejudge Metal as being an “angry” and “monotonous” genre, which is only concerned with noise and aggression. However, I’m going to prove that this isn’t always the case, as the Metal genre also happens to be home to some of the most emotionally mature and beautiful love songs and ballads.
Want to check out a more emotional side to Metal, then get your dose of love after the jump!
Dose of Love
So tomorrow is Valentine’s Day, and you know what that means? That’s right, it’s the day I get to watch porn all by myself, all day. Wait… I do that every day.
So ok, Valentine’s day kind of sucks. If you’re single, you get it completely rubbed in your face all day long. If you’re in a relationship, you’re expected to actually pull of some fantastic shit to impress your partner, when actually, you’d rather be down the pub getting drunk with your mates. And then there’s the problems of when you’re in a relationship, but you’re not quite at that stage yet where you know what you to do for Valentine’s day. Do you just do nothing? Send a card? All go all out?
Fuck off, who cares? All I know if I love listening to some fantastic Metal music, regardless of what day it is. So let’s have some slightly Valentine’s day inspired Metal doses today. Don’t worry, you’re not going to get any Linkin Park crap here, I’m still going to be offering some real Metal, it’s just Metal songs about love.
Find out what I mean after the jump. You know you need your Metal dosage.
Dose of Hardcore
So this week, I shall be giving you a nice dosage of Hardcore. No, I’m not talking about Hardcore pr0n, although I must admit, do like my fair share of that. Yeah I know what you’re thinking, but I’m no sexist. I love sex and I love women. Hence my taste for pr0n and the image above.
So what Harcore am I talking about? Well the music of course. Not Hardcore Trance (is there anything lamer?), but the genre of music that formed from the emerging Hardcore Punk bands of the 80’s to aggressive Hardcore bands of the 90s, to the Metalcore acts of the 2000s.
It’s a controversial genre, especially in Metal circles, but this week I shall be offering you 5 tracks that not only shaped the Harcore genre, but that are also damn awesome songs.
Get your Hardcore dose after the jump my friends.
Bleeding Through don't care about sales
Bleeding Through frontman, Brandan Schieppati, was recently interviewed by Sonic Shocks. It’s been a while now since the band’s latest, and self-titled, album came out, but eh, why not bring it up again?
Brandon was asked how he felt about the response to the album, and his response to the question of the album’s response, was the follwoing response:
“I feel like the people that actually got it loved it. I’ve heard very few people criticize it; it’s had the best reviews in the press that we’ve ever had with any other record, and I feel like the kids that buy it really enjoy it. It’s weird, though, because it didn’t really sell very well, but like I said before, we don’t really care about that, about what our record sells. It’s record number six for us. How many people buy six albums by a band?”
