Is there anyone left in Chimaira? [updated]

Empty rehearsal room

Andols Herrick has left Chimaira – again. That makes him the third member to leave the band in the past six months (after bassist Jim LaMarca left the band in November, and following the departure of the keyboardist Chris Spicuzza last week). That’s half the band right there. Combine that with the fact the two guitar players are currently involved with Six Feet Under, we come to the realization that Mark Hunter must be one lonely guy right now.

You can read excerpts from his statement after the jump, where he cites issues in the band and the shift in the music industry and his uncertainty about his future as the main reason for deciding to leave them. Wow, what a downer. But it’s a pretty good reason for me to go watch some porn and make myself feel good.

Update: Just as I was about to spank the monkey, something  interrupted me. Mark Hunter tweeted, reassuring that the band is not breaking up, and that there will be some sort of news tomorrow detailing the faith of the band.

Some headlines…

Chimaira (pictured above) lost their keyboardist. His name is Chris Spicuzza and I have no idea if he’s actually in the photo above or not. It says he’s also a programmer… I didn’t know metal bands needed coders.

August Burns Red (who?) set a title for their upcoming album. It’s called Leveler and it’s due on June 21st. Now, I don’t know about you, but if I were in that band, I’d release all my shit in August.

Trivium are also working on a new album. In fact, they’re almost finishing it. This is about as exciting as finding our you need an anus operation.

In Flames are also releasing something. For fuck’s sake, everyone’s releasing everything right now. Anyway, these guys are releasing a digital single on May 10th and if you’re anxious about it, blow me.

Alice In Chains will make a special concert announcement next week. It’s still ‘this week’ where I live so no point discussing this yet.

Six Chimaira Under

The new line-up for the coming European Six Feet Under tour has officially been announced. Matt DeVries, rhythm guitarist of Chimaira, will be playing bass on the upcoming tour and join fellow Chimaira guitarist Rob Arnold and former Chimaira drummer Kevin Talley in SFU. So, three members of Chimaira’s selftitled line-up just joined Six Feet Under.

Apparently, they are currently rehearsing, including old Cannibal Corpse songs. Sounds great. I’m personally looking forward to the tour because I’ll see them live next Monday. Pictures of the band rehearsing and screenshots of the official announcements after the jump.

Chimaira know Charlie Sheen is a winner

Charlie Sheen is bad ass.  Fact.  He has an awesome life.  You ask what’s so awesome about his life?  Well, he has been in some quality movies, had has a popular TV show on CBS , does cocaine on a daily basis, lives with and bangs 2 hot blondes and gets found drunk in hotels with hookers.  How can you not admire someone like this?  Fantastic life!

Obviously there are people out there disgusted by him, but 5 guys from Cleveland have his back.  Chimaira has uploaded a cover of The Troggs’ successful single “Wild Thing,” as a tribute to him.

When asked for comment, Charlie said ” Chimaria?  Never heard of that drug.”

Rob Arnold joins Six Feet Under

We speculated, we reported rumors and now it’s official: Rob Arnold of Chimaira joins Six Feet Under as rhythm guitarist.

Six Feet Under vocalist Chris Barnes commented on this addition as follows:

“I couldn’t be happier about the new songs and line up! Rob and myself have been collaborating on new songs along with the bands new drummer, Kevin Talley for the past few months. We are all feeling really excited about the bands future, and the raw intensity of the songs that we have created together so far. THIS IS THE HEAVIEST MOST EXCITING MATERIAL THAT IVE WORKED ON SINCE THE BLEEDING, AND IM STOKED THAT ROB WILL BE HELPING OUT CREATING THIS CD WITH US! we’ve all known each other for a while and we’re really looking forward to continue writing the new cd and future tours. We are committed to taking Six Feet Under to the next level of brutality!!!”

And Arnold himself said the following:

“Its been an amazing honor and opportunity to have been called upon by one of my biggest idols, Chris Barnes!! Six Feet Under and the Barnes era Cannibal stuff had enormous effects on me as a young musician, and still do to this day. In 1996, I was a kid in the front row screaming my head off to Lycanthropy and Torn to the Bone… And now here I am, being asked to play the songs on stage with the band! Dreams do come true!!! And the stuff we’ve been writing absolutely RIPS! Watch out!!”

I got to admit, I’m pretty excited about this and I can’t wait to hear the final product. Plus, finally someone who seems to love ‘Lycanthropy’ (off Six Feet Under’s debut album ‘Haunted’) as much as I do. Watch live footage of said song with SFU’s original line-up, featuring former Obituary guitarist Allen West, after the jump.
