Interview: Kirk Windstein (Crowbar, Down, Kingdom of Sorrow)
Kirk Windstein is a man of many talents, but not a man of many words. He plays in three awesome bands, and he got to be interviewed by an awesome site. In case you didn’t figure it out by the post title and the previous sentence, he was interviewed by us. And in case you didn’t figure it out by everything and anything written by us, we’re awesome.
Yours truly got a chance to do a quick chat with him, so make the jump and read it. How quick was it? Well, you’ll realize what I meant by “not a man of many words” shortly after you start reading it. Which won’t take much, because the entire interview could fit a tweet and a half. Maybe Kirk’s become eco conscious, and he’s saving bytes? What do I know… Just make the jump already.
Today’s Headlines
Today I feel like a tampon; I’m in a great place, but at a bad time. Why? Well, I’m in a great place because here I am writing for the best damn Metal site around, Dose of Metal. However, it’s a bad time for Metal news today, because there is fuck all going on. Fuck all good anyways.
First off, the chick from Within Temptation has apparently given birth. Why in God’s name would I care?I don’t, so moving on..
Second, Korn have gone Dubstep or something even lamer than they were previously. We’ve already reported on this, but I’m unoriginal like that.
Thirdly, Devildriver are awesome, so it is sad to hear that their bassist, Jonathan Miller, has left the band. His full statement can be read here.
Lastly, unfortunately Crowbar have had to pull out of Germany’s Summer Breeze festival, due to a death in the band’s closer circle which has forced them to change their plans for July and August. We wish the band the best of luck and our thoughts are with them.
Stay tuned to DoM to get all your Metal goodness. It’s like Porn, but with Metal, and without the crappy writing. Oh wait…
Down and Crowbar sitting in a tree…
So Down were joined by Crowbar bassist Patrick Bruders for a show at The Hangar in New Orleans on 11 March 2011. You’ll probably thinking… Gee, I wish I could see that.
BAM! You’re in luck. You can! The whole concert is available here. If you make the jump, you’ll see a few clips as well, cause we’re awesome like that.
If you’re wondering who made that image above. I did. It’s two crowbars and a Down cover.Pretty amazing, isn’t it? I bet you wish you were me.
Dose of Crowbar
Get it, a crowbar’s made of metal. Lame puns aside, residents of Black Mesa have made their entire new album, Sever The Wicked Hand, available for stream today. And it’s coming out… tomorrow. In the US at least, but the rest of the world can use the stream to judge the album before they spend money on it. Listen to it here.
Also, be sure to check out this week’s Headbanger’s Ball (that thing is still on? I thought MTV stopped playing anything music related?) because Kirk Windstein will be hosting it and playing you his favorite music videos. Hint: 4/8 will be Crowbar’s.
Crowbar debut new track
Crowbar, my favorite weapon from Half-Life, and apparently a band, have made a new song available for streaming, from their upcoming release Sever The Wicked Hand. The very sludgy/grungy and appropriately named “Let Me Mourn” can be found here. Enjoy it.
