Saturday overdose: Cult of Luna
Just a couple of days ago, I started listening to Cult of Luna’s masterpiece Salvation again. For those who haven’t heard it yet, it’s killer! Get it, blast it, overdose on it.
To get you into the right mood for the weekend, we’ve got two Cult of Luna songs for you right now: ‘Vague Illusions’ and ‘Leave Me Here.’ The second of the two was a single in 2004, even though it was cut down from over 7 minutes to just over 4 minutes.
Some people don’t seem to have the patience to listen to a song that’s over 7 minutes long, but we are fucking metalheads. We’re used to lenghty songs. With ‘Vague Illusions,’ you get a song that’s over 10 minutes long. So you now have a soundtrack for the next 17 minutes to listen to while you read our site.

Cult of Luna post an album update
Exciting shit right here, yo’.
“The past weekend was spent recording two songs in Umeå. A small pre-production to get the feel of how the actual recording process will work later.
Anders T are recording synthezisers from his studio in Gothenburg as we speak. Then there’s mix and evaluation on how to proceed.”
For more second-hand news (a bit like second-hand smoke, only cooler and less cancerous), stay tuned as I am one bored-ass mofo this morning.
Cult of Luna cover Unbroken
Cult of Luna, one of my favorite bands in recent times, have been hard at work writing for a new album, and have announced that recording will begin this Autumn. Great news, I know, but what about us impatient cunts?, I hear you ask.
Well, in the mean time, the band have posted an exclusive cover of Unbroken‘s ‘Recluse’ over at the band’s Myspace page.
I haven’t heard the cover yet, as I stopped using Myspace the second I started talking to girls in real life. Well that and I’m just too fucking lazy to click the link and I’m in bed with a hangover with red raw cock from all the sex wanking I did last night. Life’s tough being me.
If you’re not stuck in 2004, using shitty websites full of glitter and amateur modelling attempt photos, why not check out the band’s Facebook page also for album updates.
Video of the Week: Cult of Luna
Cult of Luna own. The song above, ‘Leave me Here,’ comes off their masterpiece ‘Salvation’.
I think, it’s hard to make a music video for Cult of Luna, whose songs are mostly way over 4 or 5 minutes long. The shortest song on ‘Salvation’ is 5:38 minutes long, while the longest song is over 12 minutes long. They somehow managed to cut the 7:15 minute long ‘Leave me Here’ to just over 4 minutes without taking too much away from the song. I do prefer the original version but this is not Weekly Dose of Metal, this is Video of the Week so just watch the god damn video.
Cult of Luna writing new album
It’s been 2 and a half years since Cult of Luna released their latest album ‘Eternal Kingdom’ and 2011 seems to be the year for a new album.
A couple of days ago (you know, last year) Cult of Luna uploaded the first in a series of webisodes that capture the writing process of said album. Check out this first webisode after the jump.
On another note, is it just me or does the word “webisode” sound just dumb?
