Dave Mustaine zooms in

There’s not much to being Dave Mustaine. All you have to do is pretend the ‘spider chord’ is hard to pull off, take your fans and success for granted and just complain about Metallica. But now you can take it up a notch and buy his signature Zoom pedal.

“Mustaine and Zoom introduced the all-new G2.1DM guitar effects pedal at a press conference on Saturday (January 15) at this year’s winter NAMM show.

‘This pedal is built for action,’ declares Mustaine. ‘With my personal sound effects and a large expression pedal modeled after the accelerator of one of my favorite sports cars onboard, the G2.1DM leaves all contenders at the starting line.’“

I’ve had this Zoom pedal for ages, it’s served me well. I also have a Zoom recorder which is pretty great. My friend would always tease me about Zoom products though. He’s a Megadeth fan… Can’t wait to laugh at him now…

Mustaine knows kung fu

Don’t mess with Dave Mustaine. Not only will he roundhouse kick you into oblivion, but he will also explain to you exactly what technique he used while you’re at the hospital.

“I have a first degree in Ukidokan karate. My sensei has the style of karate, kung-fu, aikido, judo, ju-jitsu, taekwondo, Greco-Roman wrestling, Muay Thai boxing and American boxing. So it’s all those things rolled into one. It’s a nine-style discipline. My second black belt is in Songham taekwondo and I was an assistant instructor in that style, and then I taught it privately for a while“ said Dave while watching Karate Kid 2.

Mustaine would rather retire than…

It’s that time of the month again, Dave Mustaine has something to say and you just know it’s not going to be something positive. Who did he bitch about this time? Metallica? A fellow Megadeth member? Roadrunner Records? Exactly! Roadrunner.

“We’re getting ready to start the next Megadeth record in January and the funny thing is my manager is telling me now how Roadrunner [which released 2007’s ‘United Abominations’ and 2009’s ‘Endgame’] is going out of their way now to try and give me this new huge deal, and I just don’t want it. I don’t want it. The treatment’s been terrible over the years, and I just don’t want it. I would rather retire than continue to play like that. Either we’re gonna release [future recordings] digitally [on our own] or [see] what happens next. We’ve got this last record [that we owe to] Roadrunner [as part of our current contract]; it’s gonna be a great record ’cause the songs are really, really good. ‘Cause I don’t want my side of the bargain to be tainted — I wanna be a gentleman and be respectful and deliver my side of the deal, whether or not the other party has or not.”

As you might remember, a while after ‘Endgame’ was released, Mustaine already bitched about Roadrunner not properly promoting the album.

Tom Araya is careful

Slayer and Megadeth toured together quite a bit lately, and with all The Big Four rumors, they’re likely to keep doing it. So of course, the whole rivalry questions will never end. But to be fair to interviewers, it seems the old feuds still seem to be there, at least in the form of paranoia.

“He’s another human being who lives on this planet, and that’s about it. He comes across as a nice guy, but I keep my guard up around him. He’s courteous to me and my wife and my kids. So I’m courteous in return.“ said Tom about Dave Mustaine

Can’t we all just… Get along? All things have an end (except the sausage, the sausage has two ends, but I digress), so while I do applaud all four bands for putting their personal differences aside and being professional, I don’t think these types of statements help. Oh well, what do I know? Except, you know… Everything…

People are, of course, speculating about a Big Four Tour in the U.S. Since the ‘big’ has a capital B in it, Dave might be hinting at that with subtlety. We wouldn’t be surprised considering how well the DVD sold. Oh btw, we’re also giving one away, motherfuckers, enter now before it’s too late.
