A whole Load of shite
‘What are the worst Metal albums of all time?’ It’s a question that has been on the tips of Metal fans’ lips for a long time, but ask no more, as the prodigal Metal messiahs, Yahoo (yes, Yahoo – they really know their Metal), have counted down the top 10 worst Metal albums of all time.
So who’s in the list? for it to be a realistic interpretation of ten terrible Metal albums, it should in theory be full of a bunch of no names, that are so bad, no one has actually heard of them. But where would the fun in that be?
Nope, as you’d expect, it’s full of albums by Black Sabbath, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Guns and Roses and other well known acts. The top spot is taken by not just one album, but three. Load, Reload, and St Anger all collectively take the number one position.
Should I be surprised? I guess not. But look, I’m not a fan of any of those albums, but the second you start telling me that they’re the worst Metal albums ever, well I just lose all interest in your opinion. Take Iron Maiden‘s Fear of the Dark which is number 5 in the list. Are you honestly telling me that tracks like ‘Fear of the Dark’ and ‘Wasting Love’ are worse than Korn‘s entire discography? Unlikely.
So to sum up, yes Guns N’ Roses, Iron Maiden, Metallica, and Black Sabbath have all released some “questionable” albums in their time, I’d still rather listen to them at “their worst” than listen to Revoker, Bullet for my Valentine, Korn, Within Temptation or any of the shite that was failed to be mentioned. But hey, what do I know?

Friday Top 10: Biggest concert riots
Keeping up with our theme for the week, we’re covering all things riots and looting. Luckily, we have a first hand look at the situation via Mark, who’s been doing some serious investigative journalism, which will hopefully bring us a Pulitzer, the ultimate goal of the people involved in this website.
Now, while Mark is busy on the frontlines fighting looters and making viral videos out of it (get ready for the premiere next week when we make a Top 10: Metal objects to crack skulls with), I took inspiration from the Tuesday Trivia I made this week to extend the subject matter into a Top 10. Get ready for Top 10 rock and metal concert riot moments we’re glad we were too young or too broke to go to.
Smoke on Enter November
Probably the dumbest news title yet, but “Smoke On The Water,” “Enter Sandman” and “November Rain,” in that order, were voted as the top 3 songs of all time by Swedish radio listeners.
The ‘Top 666 Songs of All Time’ was compiled by Sweden’s Rockklassiker 106.7 station. That’s right, the entries were voted online, so you know the top is bogus since most people are dumb and have shitty tastes in music.
Fourth after GNR‘s classic is AC/DC‘s even more classic “Back In Black,” followed by Metallica‘s “Nothing Else Matters.”
Don’t get me wrong, I love all five of those songs, but are they really the top songs of all time? Not really, some of them are not even the bands’ best songs.
But hey, again, this was voted online, so let’s not give it more credit than we should. Full top after the jump.
Tuesday Trivia: Anarchy in the UK (and guns in the US of A)
Here at Dose of Metal we are not only musical. We are also socially aware. That’s why we’re devoting this week’s Tuesday Trivia to the recent UK rioting.
It’s a horrible thing that’s happening there right now. The youth of the country is facing so many problems, it was evident at one point riots would errupt.
Here’s a breakdown of the reasons for the recent protests:
- Some people apparently couldn’t install 50+ Mb internet in their suburban London districts. Shameful.
- Playstation Network was down for over a month. The rage built up, in the meantime kids started live action streetfighting.
- Local scene shop ran out of hairdryers. All the scene kids shaved their heads in protest and turned skinhead over night.
- New Limp Bizkit album made a divide between the metal and rap crews. Shootouts were inevitable.
- People started getting aggravated due to long queues for iPad 2 and white iPhone 4.
In case you didn’t figure it out, I’m being fucking sarcastic. This is the most shameful shit Britain’s seen in ages, downright looting, and it’s hurting legitimacy of, you know, real protests in the real world, with real problems.
What does this have to do with metal? Well, you know the drill. Jumpdafuckup.
Metalheadlines: Eff you edition
Trivium (pictured above) have a new song online. It’s called ‘Inception Of The End’ and it sounds like it’s about dreams, or something. Anyway, it’s on YouTube at this location, so feel free to not click that link.
Slash had a song with Fergie (of NWOBHM band The Black Eyed Peas) so it makes sense for Fergie to join Slash on stage. Right? Well, she did, and you can see some clips here and here. Thank me later (for ruining your day).
Speaking of former GNR members, Steve Adler was on some show talking about some of his other shows or something. I honestly didn’t pay attention, just watch the clip here and figure it yourself. I’m not your fucking father.
Dream Theater‘s John Petrucci claims he loves Mike Portnoy. I don’t know about you guys, but I’m pretty open-minded and I hope they can finally get married someday. They have the same rights as us.
Rwake have a new album due in September. Is everyone releasing albums this September? Jeez. Anyway, the artwork can be seen here if you: 1. know who this band is and 2. care enough.
