The one where we got fed up with Christmas…

Paul Di'Anno

I don’t know about you, but all this Christmas “jolly-we’re-full-of-love-this-time-of-year” started to get to me. I needed some good old metal drama to balance things out.

Luckily, metal never stops being metal, not even on Christmas. So, what do we have to report? Paul Di’Anno (whose fashion idol is Fred Durst, obviously) wants to punch anyone who trash-talks Iron Maiden in their face. We think he’s too busy punching himself right now. Meanwhile, MisfitsJerry Only (full name: Jerry Only wish I knew who) was too busy calling out Glenn Danzig’s satanic image. I guess kids aren’t as rebellious as they used to be, and he’s got albums to sell. Expect a Misfits Christmas album next year. And, speaking of nobodies living on old fame, Tarja Turunen had some live shows. Oh how I wish to be famous again… That’s all. Expect more drama now that the holidays are approaching the end.

Up the Swiss Irons

Iron Maiden will be headlining Sonisphere Switzerland next year. Also on the bill Slipknot and recent Hall of Fame inductee Alice Cooper. Some other bands too, but no point mentioning them.

It will happen on the 24th of June in Basel, St. Jakob (I think). Poster after the jump.

Grammy nominees announced

Yesterday during the “The Grammy Nominations Concert Live!! — Countdown To Music Biggest Night” this year’s Grammy nominees were announced.

We all know that the Grammy’s are the be all, end all of all metal award shows, so you should definitely check out the nominees for Best Hard Rock Performance and Best Metal Performance after the jump (or, if you’re smarter than I think you are, you can just read the huge list of tags beneath this post).

With past winners such as Korn, Deftones, Rage against the Machine, Nine Inch Nails and Soundgarden, you just got to admit that the Grammy’s won lots of credibility for their Best Metal Performance category. Yeah right, what a load of shit. Make the jump anyhow because this year at least 4 of the 5 nominees are in fact metal.

Iron Sikth

Perhaps one of the more bizarre stories I’ve heard recently, apparently members of Iron Maiden and former Math-Metal monsters, Sikth have joined forces to form a brand new supergroup, along with some bands I’ve never heard of.

According to Metal Hammer, the new band will consist of *deep breath*Iron Maiden guitarist Adrian Smith (pictured above), Sikth vocalist, bassist and drummer Mikee W. Goodman, James Leach and Dan Foord, Murder One guitarist Dan Marshall and Vacant Stare keyboardist James Manning. The supergroup are going by the name of The Primal Rock Rebellion.

The band have have a live date booked for Saturday, January 15 in High Wycombe at Bucks Student Union according to this site.

Again we were right…

A few days ago, we reported that Iron Maiden had a special announcement coming today (click), and guess what? Surprise surprise, but DoM was once again right about something (when aren’t we right?)

Iron Maiden have announced a UK tour for next year. Remember you read it here first, before even Maiden announced it. Check out the dates after the jump.

Want more predicitions? I predict the tour will be awesome.
