Dose for Sunday
So, today is Sunday, ‘the day of rest,’ God day if you will, but to me, and many others, Sundays just plain suck. It’s the day you do nothing, just waiting for Monday to come when you have to go back to work, to work a job you hate in order to buy the crap you don’t need.
Have you been to church? No? Well good, fuck that, and welcome to Metal church. Here’s just 5 songs to get you in a better mood, ready for work tomorrow. Check out my 5 songs after the jump.
Friday Top 10: The year 2010 in metal
2010. Not as good as 2001, but still okay. Can you believe the year is coming to and end? I barely can. And then I got the job to compile a list of the most important things that happened this year. When I say the most important, I mean the most important in metal. No matter what your mom tells you, nothing is more important than metal.
Make the jump to see what made the list, and bitch about the things that haven’t.
Judas Priest say farewell
The biggest news piece today is possibly also the saddest — Judas Priest have announced that their upcoming world tour will also be their last one.
So, you probably have just one chance to see these guys. Check the currently announced tour dates after you make the jump.
Remember when Judas Priest went to court?
If you’re over the age of 35, chances are you remember that trial from the summer of 1990. Heavy Metal gods Judas Priest were taking to court because two stupid kids thought it would be a cool idea to try and commit suicide. The reason? Because the song “Better By You, Better Than Me“, supposedly had a subliminal message that told them to “do it”. Raymond Belknap successfully killed himself but James Vance actually survived.
Dream Deceivers: The Story behind James Vance VS Judas Priest is a documentary you need to check out, regardless if you’re a Judas Priest fan or not. It basically follows creepy James Vance and his ridiculously religious mom crying how metal music is evil and also thinks teens should not be listening to heavy metal music. The documentary also shows footage from the court room.
Make the jump to view Rob Halford singing in court and a YouTube link to that evil song.
K.K. gives the O.K.
K.K. Downing, of Judas Priest, is ready to go on tour. A message on his official site goes a little something like this:
“It seems that the time has come for us to put the touring wheels in motion for our next world tour in 2011! It’s funny but these days around – about this time – I can’t help but reflect on the past when we had to load the touring van ourselves. Sometimes in the ice and snow, being afraid that we would get frostbites on our fingers and not be able to play the gig!“
Read full post here, although it goes on and on and on forever.
Can’t musicians just announce something without making it a mini-biography? Jesus. If I had a band, you know what my updates would sound like? “Tour. 2011. Bye” or in case I’m feeling ‘ranty,’ I’d make it a bit longer… “Tour in 2011. Goodbye.”
If any band needs a badass PR guy, let me know.
