Metal goes acoustic 2
Some of you regular readers may remember a week or so back I wrote a post called Metal goes acoustic. You should also remember that it was fucking awesome.
Now, because everything good comes in twos (my testicles, Katy Perry’s boobs, and so on), I’m back with part two. What does part two involve? Well, once again it’s a Youtube user called broadcast2k9 and it’s another Machine Head song that has been covered acoustically. This time, the song is A Farewell to Arms taken from The Blackening album. The song is over 10 minutes long, so I hope you can take a 10 minute break from Facebook or Porn or whatever you’re doing to check out this great cover. You won’t regret it.
Metal goes acoustic
I must admit, as incredibly Metal (and handsome) I am, I am actually a big fan of acoustic music too. Don’t get me wrong, I love distortion and blast beats as much as the next man, but there’s something about that clean and pure sound you get from an acoustic guitar that I love. One of my favorite past times, when I’m bored (which is a lot, because I have no life), is checking out some acoustic covers of Metal tracks on Youtube. Ok, so some really suck, but some are undeniably brilliant.
What is my favorite cover that I’ve been listening to recently? Well it happens to be the awesome cover of Machine Head‘s Now I Lay Thee Down, which can be found above. The musician does a brilliant job at recreating the track for the acoustic guitar.
Good news for those living in the 18th Century
Old school Metalheads of the world, some fantastic news for you guys that are just too stubborn to enter the 21st Century, or just realize that MP3s sound like premature jizz and Vinyl sounds like orgasmic brilliance. Not that I would know though, I’m still rockin’ my tapedeck like it’s 1995.
Roadrunner Records, along with Opeth and Machine Head, will be participating in some “cool” Record Store Day Initiatives this April 16.
Inspired by the length of my penis, Opeth will release seven-inch vinyl of “The Throat of Winter”. The track, which was originally featured on the “God Of War: Blood & Metal” digital EP, will see its first and only physical incarnation with this special release. Side B of the seven-inch (the record, not my penis) is etched with the band’s logo (although BTW, my penis is etched with all 443 of my past lovers’ names – it’s just that damn big).
Inspired by the length of my penis when erect (it’s 7 inches when floppy), Machine Head will release 10-inch vinyl, titled The Black Procession. The record includes three previously unreleased live tracks that were recorded along 2010’s Black Procession Tour, in support of the band’s last studio effort, The Blackening.

Dave is gonna be busy this summer
After news broke that The Big Four would only do one U.S. show, many gullible hopeful fans were expecting more dates to be added. Well, maybe this news will make them reconsider, as Dave and co. will be busy this summer with their own tour.
“Disturbed and Godsmack are rumored to be topping the bill on this summer’s Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival tour, which is expected to kick off sometime in July. Also scheduled to appear are Megadeth, Machine Head, In Flames, Suicide Silence and Unearth, among others.“ writes Blabbermouth. Full details tomorrow, January 26th.

Tough luck, guys. Seems like Megadeth is busy touring with Disturbed and Godsmack… Who cares about Metallica, Slayer and Anthrax, right? Maybe you get lucky and Sully Erna performs some of his amazing solo stuff, too. Fingers crossed!
2011: The albums to watch out for (Pt. 1)
So as 2010 comes to an end, we all forget the mistakes of the past year, the dodgy synth driven pop albums of aged Nu-Metal acts, the mediocre drivel released by once good bands, and now look forwards to the promised releases of the forthcoming year. Will the albums be as brilliant as promised, or will they flop quicker than my penis after I see Lady Gaga on TV? Time will tell.
So which albums should you watch out for in 2011? Read on after the jump to find out.
