The Dillinger Escape Band

The Dillinger Escape Plan should join Cirque du Soleil. Seriously, they have a proper show: the picture above is just one example of the gravity defying acts their band members are known to show (google them to see more). They spend more time in the air than on the ground during their shows, and when they’re on the ground they spend it spitting fireballs. And they also have some music playing in the background.

Which brings me to some sad news. It seems the band members of The Dillinger Escape Plan are working hard to escape the band for a little while. Aaaw. In the last few days yours truly has counted three side projects by various members of the band. Make the jump to find out more.

Sepultura reunion… possible?

There’s one I didn’t see coming. As you may know, Max Cavalera kept talking and talking and talking about a possible Sepultura reunion of the old line-up. Sepultura on the other hand made it clear that they don’t want to reunite with the Cavaleras.

That’s where we stood in December but it’s 2011, bitch, and the cards are being reshuffled. In a new interview with Andreas Kisser, Sepultura guitarist and the guy who told Max Cavalera to move on and stop talking bullshit just a couple of weeks ago, said this;

“[It’s] not impossible, but we cannot do something just for the sake of doing it. We would have to establish a new identity, [and rebuild the] friendship [between us].”
“Max has been talking a lot about this reunion [in recent interviews], perhaps because his other bands, Cavalera Conspiracy and Soulfly, are not as good as Sepultura. But if a reunion was to take place, it would have to be something decent. And only time will tell [if something like that can happen].”

Max Cavalera here. Max Cavalera there. Sepultura drama here. Soulfly drama there? It seems so. Earlier today, I promised you that I won’t post any more articles about the whole Sepultura reunion debacle, unless it turns into a bitchfight.

Now, imagine my sigh when I read that someone slammed Max Cavalera for “talking shit” and “lying” to the press. Surprisinly, it was no one from Sepultura though. They already did that earlier this month. This time, it was former Soulfly bassist Bobby Burns. Do I know who he is? Yes, he played the bass for Soulfly. I sure did my homework, eh?

Anyhow, according to Burns, Cavalera lied to the press about the circumstances surrounding Bobby’s departure from the band. Interesting.

Max Cavalera… Sepultura… yawn…

This got old three weeks ago. Max Cavalera, of Soulfly and Cavalera Conspiracy, formerly of Sepultura, still talks about reuniting with Sepultura, even though they made it clear that they don’t want to reunite with him and that they just want him to stop talking “bullshit”.

Two weeks ago, Mr. Cavalera talked about the reunion and that was just a couple of days after Sep posted their statement. I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt and assume he didn’t see, read or hear their statement at the time. As of right now, someone in his camp surely should have told him about it, right? Well, it doesn’t seem so, because he still talks about it;

“People are asking me about this reunion thing. I’ve said many times before that I’d like to do it and I don’t even need to do it because both of my bands are doing really good — Cavalera Conspiracy and Soulfly are doing so good that I don’t even need a Sepultura reunion for my life. But I’d like to do it for the fans because they’re asking for it so much.”

Eh, I don’t have to add anything to that, do I? I will just say this: this is my last article about this ‘reunion’ debacle, unless it turns into a huge bitchfight, because I already almost fell asleep during writing this, I can’t imagine how you must feel.
