Dave is gonna be busy this summer
After news broke that The Big Four would only do one U.S. show, many gullible hopeful fans were expecting more dates to be added. Well, maybe this news will make them reconsider, as Dave and co. will be busy this summer with their own tour.
“Disturbed and Godsmack are rumored to be topping the bill on this summer’s Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival tour, which is expected to kick off sometime in July. Also scheduled to appear are Megadeth, Machine Head, In Flames, Suicide Silence and Unearth, among others.“ writes Blabbermouth. Full details tomorrow, January 26th.

Tough luck, guys. Seems like Megadeth is busy touring with Disturbed and Godsmack… Who cares about Metallica, Slayer and Anthrax, right? Maybe you get lucky and Sully Erna performs some of his amazing solo stuff, too. Fingers crossed!
Only one American Big Four show?
Ever since “The Big Four tour” rumors hit last year, American fans were expecting an American leg. It didn’t happen in 2010, but after great DVD sales, the rumors started flying around that it will happen. Finally, yesterda, an announcement was made. American fans went crazy.
Unfortunately the announcement today is that there will be only one U.S. show… In Indio, California. On April 23rd. The news post on Metallica.com clearly states it’s the only one for this year:
“It’s true — this is indeed the only scheduled stop in America this go around, so we’re hoping that you can head West to join us”

Now, of course, they could do more dates next year. It’s way too big of a cash cow to just ignore the American demand. But that statement says it all, plus the poster clearly says “first and only time in the U.S.” so if you don’t live in (or close to) California and you can’t make it, you’ll have to wait.
Anyways, it’s called The Big Four Festival and tickets go on sale this Friday (Jan 28th) on Ticketmaster. They have an official site which you can access here. They also have the Facebook page we told you about. The poster is after the jump.
Get ready, America! (updated)
It was obvious that this was gonna happen after the media attention and the DVD sales, but now it’s confirmed. The Big Four are coming to the U.S.
No dates yet, but there’s a big poster on Metallica‘s official website. You can either check it out there or make the jump to see it here. They’re also advertising this Facebook page, but right now all it has is a photo of elephants. Not cool to make fun of Kerry King like that, if you ask me.
So Dave will have to pretend to like Lars for a little while longer. Finally he can promote himself using Metallica‘s name without taking a jab at them. His dream came true.
Anyways, I caught two Big Four dates in Europe last year and it was definitely worth my time, so make sure you check them out if you can. Don’t forget, they’re also doing England and France this summer…
**UPDATE**: They posted a new image on the Facebook page saying more details will be announced tomorrow (January 25th). Stay tuned, we’ll be making fun reporting this. Image after the jump.
Dave Mustaine zooms in
There’s not much to being Dave Mustaine. All you have to do is pretend the ‘spider chord’ is hard to pull off, take your fans and success for granted and just complain about Metallica. But now you can take it up a notch and buy his signature Zoom pedal.
“Mustaine and Zoom introduced the all-new G2.1DM guitar effects pedal at a press conference on Saturday (January 15) at this year’s winter NAMM show.
‘This pedal is built for action,’ declares Mustaine. ‘With my personal sound effects and a large expression pedal modeled after the accelerator of one of my favorite sports cars onboard, the G2.1DM leaves all contenders at the starting line.’“

I’ve had this Zoom pedal for ages, it’s served me well. I also have a Zoom recorder which is pretty great. My friend would always tease me about Zoom products though. He’s a Megadeth fan… Can’t wait to laugh at him now…
Ellefson rhymes with Jackson
I don’t know about you guys, but I really like David Ellefson. He just seems like the total opposite of Dave Mustaine and yes, that is a compliment. On the Big Four DVD, the backstage stuff, he was the only one that genuinely seemed excited to be playing a gig and be part of a music festival, the other guys from all four bands just seemed like it’s another day at the office.
News is slow over the weekend so I’m gonna post an interview with David from NAMM. He talks about his signature Jackson bass guitars.
Now I’m not a big fan of Jackson in general, but these basses look sweet. If you squint at the picture above, it almost looks like a normal guitar. I always loved basses like that, and the headstock is just pure badassery, if you ask me.
Make the jump for the interview.
