Weak Recap: Yes we can, bitch!
A few months ago, I had a dream. A dream that we could recap our weeks on Sunday without falling in the blog cliche of just making a list of some of our articles. And my creativity and my egomania had sex and came up with the offspring that is The Weak Recap.
Basically we recap the week by interviewing each other. It feeds our egos and it’s letting you know how awesome we’ve been the week before.
So now it’s my turn to interview NFL legend, influential guitarist and all-around amazing metal bloger, Simo. After the jump.
Friday Top 10: Love songs
People often prejudge Metal as being an “angry” and “monotonous” genre, which is only concerned with noise and aggression. However, I’m going to prove that this isn’t always the case, as the Metal genre also happens to be home to some of the most emotionally mature and beautiful love songs and ballads.
Want to check out a more emotional side to Metal, then get your dose of love after the jump!
Learn to play guitar like Jaymz
I think we can all agree that James Hetfield is one of the best metal guitarists around. He may not be a lead guitarist, but he wrote Master Of Puppets. Enough said. That’s like a ‘get out of a metal argument free card’ or something.
– Metallica did this and that, I hate them now!
– But dude, they wrote Master Of Puppets.
– Damn, you’re right.
Anyway, want to play guitar just like him? It’s possible. You must get his new signature EMG pickups, though. That’s all you need, really… Oh, you also need talent, but that’s a relative term these days (Lady Gaga anyone?).
Make the jump for a teaser clip of the pickups. To be honest, they look badass.
Weak Recap: We’re bringing sexy back
Another week behind us, another week of total metal kickassery. “But hey Simo, this week hasn’t been that special really…” – I hear some of you saying, and to clarify, when I say kickassery, I mean the way we’ve covered everything. Hell, we could comment on funerals or people sleeping and make it sound interesting as hell.
Kids, prepare your tissues and toilet paper, Mark and I are taking a trip down the memory lane, and it’s going to be sexy.
Saturday morning headlines!
Soundgarden have released tour dates for their upcoming North American tour. I grew up with Soundgarden so seeing them live is a no-brainer. However, my big complaint is Coheed and Cambria opening at the show i’m attending, while The Mars Volta, Mastodon and Queens Of The Stone Age will be at other shows of the tour. Lame. More information can be found here.
The trailer for The Big Four show at Yankee Stadium (pictured above) has been posted online and you can view it here. It was pretty cool, but the “Four of the heaviest bands of all time” slogan made me roll on the floor laughing my ass off (what can I say, I’m more of an metal elitist than everyone at Metal Archives).
Melodic death metal act Arch Enemy have uploaded a new song titled ‘Blood Stained Cross’, which is from their upcoming new album Khaos Legions. You can listen to the song here. Oops. Sorry, I meant here.
Mötley Crüe bassiest Nikki Sixx recently told about.com “I think our best record is still in us.” — I like Nikki, I really do. I think he’s a pretty cool guy. But after reading that, I have a feeling he is back on the heroin for that interview and thinking it’s 1983.
