Dose of new metal
Hey guys, whatcha doing? Having a good day? Well, I’m here to ruin it make it even better for you. Five Finger Death Punch have a new song out! Aren’t you super excited? Well, then you’re going to go crazy over a new P.O.D. track! But wait, there’s more — some guys from Deftones met some guys from Far and made some completely new atrocity. The only reason “new” in the title isn’t “nu” is because I’ve managed to balance things out by finding a new Opeth song, and a surprise track by another band. Ooooo, which one is it?
Make the jump and find out.
Opeth thy Guitar World
If you’re wondering what the title means, I have no fucking clue. The point is, Mikael Åkerfeldt and Fredrik Åkesson (what on Earth are those symbols?) of Opeth stopped by the Guitar World studio to shoot some video lessons and photographs.
The video above shows Fredrik’s awesome guitar skills and Mikael’s awesome pose skills. Too bad the video is too short, eh? Well, if you want more Opeth action, how about you check out Guido’s interview with Axe? In my opinion, funniest interview on this site.
Who likes live videos?
Everyone should like live videos right? I know it’s bit like comparing porn to real sex, or watching sports to playing sports (actually that last analogy doesn’t work at all), but you can’t always make it to your favorite gigs or festivals, can you?
So luckily, fans of bands like Opeth, Mastodon, Kreator, Amorphis, and many more, can check their live performances at today’s Graspop Metal Meeting festival in Belgium today over at Skynet.be.
The schedule is as follows:
Amorphis 14:00 – 14:45
Kreator 14:50 – 15:40
Moonsorrow 15:45 – 16:30
Mastodon 16:35 – 17:35
Legion of the Damned 17:40 – 18:30
Avenged Sevenfold 18:35 – 19:35
Opeth 19:40 – 20:40
Rob Zombie 20:45 – 22:00
Cavalera Conspiracy 22:05 – 23:05
Friday Top 10: Albums of the 90s
So, many of us here at Dose of Metal are in our mid twenties, and we grew up with Metal in the ’90s. It may not go down as the greatest decade in Metal history, but fuck it, I love the ’90s. So many damn good albums came out of that decade, and that’s the purpose of this week’s Friday Top 10.
The list is pretty simple. Two rules: Only one album per band, to keep it varied, and secondly, Metal only, and that’s it. Other than that, I just blew this list out of my ass, because I’m awesome and you should listen to me.
So what are you waiting for? Make the jump for this week’s Friday Top 10.
Hey! It’s time for headlines!
Today is June 6th and that means it’s ‘Internatinal Day of Slayer’, a day where dumb/redneck Slayer fans dedicated Slayer fans get heavily intoxicated, listen to Slayer all day and randomly yell “SLAYER” every 10 minutes or so. So, uh, yeah… SLAYER!!!!
Queensryche recently just released a brand spanking new song titled, ‘Around The World’. The track comes off their upcoming new album, ‘Dedicated To Chaos’, which will be released on June 28th. Interesting… Queensryche still make music? Don’t get me wrong, I do enjoy them. Operation:Mindcrime and Empire are great records. I’m just surprised they are still around. I’ve not heard anything new from them in ages. As usual, you have to “like” the band on Facebook to listen to the track.
Jane’s Addiction > Nirvava. Well, that’s what Tom Morello basically said. Tom was inducting Jane’s Addiction into the Guitar Center RockWalk and said
“Nirvana often gets credit for being the first ‘alternative’ band to break through, the band that changed music and led rock out of the hair metal wilderness of the ’80s. That’s just not true. It was Jane’s Addicton: inspiring intelligent, furiously rocking and artistically deep.” The thing is, I don’t really care.
He’s got a point. The thing is, I don’t really care. Nirvana died in 1994 and the latest Jane’s Addiction song sounds like this
Opeth, one of the best live bands around, have released a handful of North American dates for their upcoming tour with Katatonia. Not a big Katatonia fan, but that’s not stopping me from going to see Opeth live for the 4th time. Tour dates can be found here
