Kids ruin Pantera
Look, I’m not gonna attack some kids passionate about music. If anything, with all the stupid kids doing Justin Timberlake and Lady Gaga covers on YouTube, these guys are a breath of fresh air. So I applaud their skill and hope they’ll keep working on their craft and grow up to write influential music of their own.
However, they keep covering Pantera (cause I have seen them before) and to me, it doesn’t cut the mustard. Sorry. It just doesn’t, and I’m not gonna patronize them just because they’re young. The intro to the song you’re about to hear is horrible and the kid’s voice is taking away everything that made Pantera’s vocals great. Keep working, guys, you got my moral support. But this is just substandard.
Watch them butcher most of “Revolution is my name,” after the jump.
Phil just got his Christmas present
If you’re asking this to yourself right now: “Gee, I wonder what Phil Anselmo would look like opening his Christmas presents and then realizing it’s not what he wanted, but he has to pretend it’s cool for the sake of his parents’ feelings“ then my oh my, you’re in luck.
Check out a video of Phil opening up the “Ultimate Edition” of ‘Cowboys from Hell,’ which will be in stores November 22nd for all the Pantera fans who will still waste pay good money for basically the same album they got 20 years ago. After the jump.
Review: Pantera – Cowboys from Hell (20th Anniversary Deluxe Edition)
Who are Pantera? What? You don’t know Pantera? Well, then fuck off. Pantera were one of the most important metal bands of the 90’s, getting heavier and heavier with each release.
This very release I’m holding in my hands right now, was Pantera’s major label debut and got rerelease last month, including 2 bonus CDs. I won’t be reviewing the actual album but the 2 bonus CDs. Read on after the jump.
No Pantera Reunion
Former Pantera, current Down, bassist Rex Brown recently did an interview with Sonic Excess.
The most interesting part in said interview was when the interviewer asked Rex what his thoughts were on a Pantera reunion and Brown said:
“I just don’t see it happening. It would be great in one factor, that we would play with Vinnie again and that it would be all sorted out. But, I think it would be… I just don’t think it would be right without Dime. It was only the four of us, and I don’t know anybody that can play like him.”
