Soundgarden reunion was a mistake
…says the band right now. Okay, they’re not really saying that, but misleading is my thing (something my math teacher learned the hard way). No, they’re not re-breaking apart, they’re just saying that the entire reunion thing happened as an accident, after Chris Cornell’s tweet was misunderstood.
“The 12 year break is over and school is back in session.”
Apparently, the tweet in question was about their online fan club and website getting a refresh, but people understood it as the band reuniting, and they’ve been so overwhelmed by the reactions they decided to do it fo’ real.
Okay, I’m not buying any of this, but for the naive folks out there, isn’t this just cute? I suggest you also check out this book called Bible, and a website called Facebook, which totally doesn’t sell your private information to spam advertising companies. Dose of Metal, to protect and serve metal.
Livegarden
The reunited Soundgarden are really hard at work. Fresh off their latest new-old, but mostly old album “The Telephantasm,” comes the new-old, first ever live album, “Live on I5.” Even this is sort of a rip off, because the album will feature recordings from their 1996 tour. “Sort of” because let’s face it, the band were at their prime back then, so it’s most likely better than anything they can pull off nowadays.
What does the future hold for this band? I see a remix album produced by Timbaland. But even that wouldn’t be anything new.
Grammy nominees announced
Yesterday during the “The Grammy Nominations Concert Live!! — Countdown To Music Biggest Night” this year’s Grammy nominees were announced.
We all know that the Grammy’s are the be all, end all of all metal award shows, so you should definitely check out the nominees for Best Hard Rock Performance and Best Metal Performance after the jump (or, if you’re smarter than I think you are, you can just read the huge list of tags beneath this post).
With past winners such as Korn, Deftones, Rage against the Machine, Nine Inch Nails and Soundgarden, you just got to admit that the Grammy’s won lots of credibility for their Best Metal Performance category. Yeah right, what a load of shit. Make the jump anyhow because this year at least 4 of the 5 nominees are in fact metal.
Download announcement soon
All you Download festival go-ers will be happy to hear that a big announcement will be coming November 29th, which will include 2 of the 3 headliners being announced. Also, early bird tickets will be available from December 3rd.
Lots of rumors have been circulating regarding possible headliners, with the following names all being mentioned: System of a Down, Foo Fighters, Muse, Sound Garden, Bon Jovi and Van Halen. We can only hope and pray that most of those aren’t true.
You can follow the organiser, Andy Copping, to get all your Download news straight to your Twitter feed.
Soundgarden do Coco. Twice.
Conan “Coco” O’Brien is back on late night, and he had Soundgarden on as musical guests last night, where they performed two songs. Pretty cool huh? Not really, but still, the videos are after the jump. If you care. And you shouldn’t.
