TesseracT officially announce new singer, bass player comments
The rumors are true: TesseracT have parted ways with their singer Dan Tompkins, and recruited Elliot Coleman instead (pictured above with the rest of the band). I’ll be honest, I thought the whole thing might have been just temporary, because at one point, rumors were going on that Dan was leaving to join a pop band. Apparently, he is gone fo’ shaw, and personally, I’m not really sure what to think. Dan’s voice was (despite my earlier jokes) kinda unique (at least compared to the average djent vocalist), and I’m not sure how I feel about the new guy, but let’s not judge things based on a shitty iPhone clip we saw yesterday.
You can read the official announcement here, and Metal Sucks has conducted an interview with band’s bass player, Amos Williams, which I recommend reading (btw, just how fucked up does the new guy look on that photo they posted?). Oh, and if you make the jump, you can listen to a song with their now former singer, Dan Tompkins.
Tesseract Shmesseract
Holy shit you guys, Tesseract (or TesseracT, if you wanna be a bitch about it) changed their frontman! It took only two days for the world to notice, because Got Djent first reported it this Saturday and it’s only now making the headlines of basement metal bloggers from around the world.
Apparently, the band had a show, and surprisingly in place of their regular speak and scream machine vocalist Dan Tompkins, the band performed that night with Elliot Coleman. No one is quite sure what the reason was, and I suspect even less people care. Still, you can check out a shitty video of the performance above.
TesseracT goes acoustic
Manic Tech-Metal Progressive djentlemen TesseracT recently performed a special acoustic set at Brooklyn’s Fastlane studios for Metal Injection. You can watch a video from this set above.
Posting via their Facebook page TesseracT had the following to say:
“We’ve kind of been blown away by the response to the acoustic versions of our tracks. Its given us some ideas for the future for sure. Thank you to Metal Injection, Warwick Basses, Mesa Boogie, Crush Drums and Percussion, SABIAN Cymbals and the wonderful Century Media Records for making it happen”
TesseracT released their debut album One earlier this year, and you can check out what we thought of it by clicking here.
Review: Tesseract – One
A Tesseract is some sort of shape or something (yeah, I do my research!), but this particular review is of a certain Djent band’s debut album, not some mathematical shit. Don’t know what Djent is? Don’t worry; we’ve already got that covered. Don’t know who Tesseract are? Don’t worry; we’ve also got that covered too. We’re just awesome like that.
The band’s debut album, called One, has been released through Century Media Records, and it’s a bit of an odd one, and not just because it’s Progressive and weird (although it is BTW). It’s a weird one (no pun intended – you know, ‘cause the album is called One and all) because it turns out that the bulk of the album is actually made up of the band’s previously released Concealing Fate EP, released some time last year. Then there are 5 new tracks, and by new, I mean most of those are just re-recorded songs that have been heard before in some form or another. I think only one or two songs are completely new. That’s ok though, because the band are still relatively new (At least to most people) and this is their debut, so I’ll let them off.
Make the jump for the review.
Incoming: TesseracT
If you haven’t heard of TesseracT before, you can be forgiven, but Prog Metal fans, now is the time to pay attention.
Formed in possibly the geekiest way possible, U.K. Prog Metallers TesseracT started to take shape from internet based communities and a love for Meshuggah. If you think these guys will be just another Meshuggah clone though, you’ll be mistaken, as TesseracT bring their own unique sound to the table.
Gaining praise from Meshuggah, Textiles as well as much of the Metal media, TesseracT have signed with Century Media Records and will finally be releasing their debut album (titled One) in 2011. TesseracT will definitely be a band to watch out for this year.
So, want to check out some tracks from this Prog Metal monster? Just keep reading after the jump.
