Lady Gaga is a Heavy Metal Lover

Global mega star Lady Gaga literally can’t go five minutes without trying to prove how ‘metal’ she is. Whether it’s attending Iron Maiden concerts, hanging out with members of Anthrax or whatever else it is she does, she’s always trying to prove she is a heavy metal lover.

So what’s her next move?

It was revealed earlier today that Lady Gaga has tapped The Darkness as support when she hits the UK this September.

Awesome, a Queen parody act supporting a Madonna parody act? This is going to be fun kids (please note obvious sarcasm).

Brian May and The Darkness sitting in a tree…

Brian May, of Queen fame, performed with The Darkness, of ‘being queens’ fame.

The video of the performance is there, but I wouldn’t end my year with that image in my head, if you know what I mean.

A fear of The Darkness

I think they should call it Darknessphobia. Or how about people with good taste syndrome? In advance I’d also like to apologize to anyone that thought this post would be about Iron Maiden, you must be hugely disappointed.

Instead, I’m talking, of course, about that lame British Rock band, The Darkness, that gained much success at the start of the century for playing a ‘Pop’d’ up, simplistic by-numbers rendition of what vastly superior bands had been doing twenty-thirty plus years earlier.

For those that didn’t know (lucky you), the band reformed earlier this year, playing the main stage at the UK’s Download festival. Speaking with Total Guitar magazine, frontman Justin has announced that their comeback album is nearly finished. Oh yay…

Justin also reveals some of what he likes to get up to in his spare time.

“Do you cup the sack while administering said blowjob? Do you pop a finger up the arse? We have to decide how the happy ending goes.”

Wait, what? What’s that got to do with the new album?

Weak Recap: We’re better than you

Fact 1: We love interviews.
Fact 2: Our opinion is great.
Fact 3: Lame week recaps are lame

Taking that into consideration, we realized we do want to make a week recap at the end of each week, but not just a lame list of all our articles or something. So we decided to go narcissistic and just interview each other about the previous week’s most important headlines. Since this week recap is weak, we’re calling it a Weak Recap. Clever, right? Blow me.

So this weekend I’m interviewing Guido. We’ll take turns interviewing each other because let’s face it, we rule. So make the jump to see what he has to say about what went on in the last 7 days.

The Darkness return

The Darkness, otherwise known as the Pop band that successfully tricked brain-dead zombies around the world into thinking they were a unique, original and quirky Rock band, by ripping off superior bands and adding ridiculous falsetto vocals, despite the fact everything they did had been heard before in the 70s and 80s, only better, are officially back. I know you’re probably about as excited as I am at this prospect.

For those with poor memories, The Darkness rose to fame in the early 2000s when they released their breakthrough album, Permission to Land, which can only be described as like the sound of your parents making love; sickening. After the band’s fifteen minutes of fame was up, a large proportion of the population realized the band were in fact shit and their second album flopped,  and the band then split up shortly afterwards (hallelujah).

It is with great sadness that we at Dose of Metal report on the band’s return, but we have to do these things unfortunately to warn you guys. We’ve already reported on one disaster this week and we don’t want another one. No doubt the band ran out of money and now they’re trying to pull the nostalgia card. Original guys, almost as original as your terrible music.

The band are also playing the UK’s Download Festival, which is brilliant news, because I’m not going. More info here.
