Spotlight Reloaded: Best Of
As you probably noticed, I used to post a Spotlight review article every Monday for 8 editions. You can find them all here. Now, I’ve put the Spotlight reviews to death a while ago but that doesn’t mean that we won’t write about rather unknown bands anymore. You can still contact us and we’ll listen to your stuff. I just didn’t feel like short reviews like that do the bands/albums justice, so we’re going to review them as we do with more known bands/albums from now on aswell. Just seems more fair to me.
Now, there were some pretty awesome albums part of those reviews though, so I’d like to present you the best of Spotlight. Here are the three bands that got the most favorable reviews out of me:
1. Rival Sons – Rival Sons EP
Spotlight Review — MySpace — Facebook
2. The Lost Broadcast – Antennae
Spotlight Review — MySpace — Facebook
3. Titans Eve – The Divine Equal
Spotlight Review — MySpace — Facebook
Check them out because they’re all killer. And don’t forget to get in contact with us if you’re in a band and would like us to review your work.
Titans Eve give away song for free
Do you know Titans Eve? No? But you should! I’ve reviewed their debut album The Divine Equal a while ago and gave it a favorable 4 1/2 skull rating. If that wasn’t reason enough for you to check them out, Titans Eve now gave you a third reason (the second reason being “They kick ass, yo!”) to check out The Divine Equal.
They are giving away a song, called ‘Tides Of Doom,’ off their debut album for free right here. Why are they giving away the song for free? Well, to celebrate their nomination at the Vancouver Urban Culture Awards.
If you want to support the band, go here, go to Step 3, choose Metal Band and vote for Titans Eve. Or don’t if you think the other bands deserve it more. You can also vote for 3 Inches of Blood, Quartered, Bison BC, Gross Misconduct, Archon Legion, Tard, Artep or Muspellheim.
Personally, I voted for Titans Eve but I could also understand if you voted for 3 Inches of Blood. The other bands don’t really ring a bell, as I’m not really up-to-date with Canadian metal. Either way, check out the song because it’s killer!
Weak Recap: Hello, we’re metal!
We’re one of the last of a dying breed. We’re the Albert Einstein of brutality, the William Shakespear of violence, the Arnold Schwarzenegger of funny, the Michael Jackson of metal. All these comparisons are way off though… because we’re better than those guys and we’re certainly better than anyone else out there, including you!
We’re so good, we’re interviewing each other. Who needs interviews with musicians, who have been interviewed already thousands of times? No one!
So, you want to know what happened this past week in metal? Make the jump, we’ll teach you a lesson.
Spotlight: Titans Eve, Yggdrasil, Wormrot
You don’t want to be in the spotlight when these guys above are after you but other people deserve to be in the spotlight and that’s why we’re reviewing albums by artists who contacted us via our ‘Your Band’ form. Are you in a band? Do you want to be featured on our site? Click the link and contact us.
Not all artists, featured in the spotlight category, contacted us themselves. Some albums were sent to us via their label or PR agents but that doesn’t lessen your chance. We don’t care who writes to us, we will listen to everything with an open ear. Sometimes even with two.
This week, one album was listenable, one album blew me away and one album surprised me. Make the jump to find out which of these statements fit which band.
